Guys and Girls I am sure someone can help me out on this, I am a member of Audax Uk and managed to complete a couple of 100k rides but I am looking to get more in I have noticed that AUK website that they list permanents and you apply to get brevet card.
Question does this mean you do these rides on your own or with friends I presume.
Question how would you get Brevet card stamped as I presume there are no rest points along the routes.
I am asking on here as I thought I would get an answer quicker and yes CTC member also cheers

Yes, on your own or with friends.
Card "stamps" tend to be post office or shop stamps (the ones that still do them), or things like till receipts from cafes, cash point receipts, car park receipts (no, that doesn't mean that you can do it in the car

), basically anything that says were it is from and what time you were there.

Many permanents use established calendar event routes and so there are usually cafes at convenient places, and if you are riding mid-week there maybe even more choice of cafes than usual.

Receipts from cash machines and shops, as long as they say where you are and what time. Some fun can be had trying to get strange stamps when out and about.

...and remember finding stamps, does, sometimes, eat into your available time. Overnight long distance ones are the best, 2am in an obscure village with no cash machine......
I make note of things like the name of the pub/brewery ownership as some sort of proof, ( in those days I did not have a phone with camera) but I guess a photo of the village sign at night might help as back up.
Also there was considerable delay in one of my brevet cards being returned to me, which initially caused me a panic that it might have been lost in the post until it was confirmed that it had been received by the person running the perm.
After that I scanned all the cards into the computer as back-up in the event of one going astray, having had experience of race entries going astray.
At the time I was doing the RTTY as part of my build up to LEL so it was important to have the evidence that the event had been completed.

Oh god I am going to have to get organised I can see that I can remember something we used to do when I played alot of rugby and that was collecting items from other clubs at away games.
So guess I could do that I might then need a trailer on the back haha thanks for all the advice though appricated.
I am giving a thing called a mesh ago first which suits me will be around 200k starting at Biggleswade heading out into the fens then across to Oundle in a large loop.

There was some talk within AUK of accepting digital photos (eg of the village sign) with the timestamp displayed - there's free software out there which will embed the time in the photo. I don't know what came of this idea - you could always check with the organiser if they would accept same.
Equally, before long I'm sure that tracks from GPS devices will become acceptable as audax proof.
Moi? I have always used cash machines on the few DIY perms I've done. There is a searchable map of Link cash machines at
http://locator.link.co.uk/map/ note: try to avoid the ones that show a charge as they tend to be inside pubs or shops!

You will normallt find that perms suggest controls where stamps/evidence can be obtained e.g. named shops and garages. Other forms of evidence include tickets from car park machines and ATM receipts.
In addition there are information controls e.g what is the name of the house at 33 Acacia Street? What is the builder's name on the bridge over the river? etc
Other forms tof evidence that I have used:
ATM receipts for withdrawals
Supermarket receipts - for munchies en route
Bank statement produced by taking a screen shot of online statement and painting out details that you don't want to share to show evidence of time and location of withdrawal - this is useful if the only available ATM has run out of paper or like I did, lose the ATM receipt from the last control of a 200km Audax I was gutted until my wife suggested this solution.
Train tickets issued at the end of a liinear ride. The tickets are time stamped.
Some post offices will stamp a brevet card.
I have found it easier to do DIY permanents. I can choose the route and I've got 100km permanents down to three controls and 200km down to four or five controls. Choosing large enough towns will give you access to supermarkets for receipts and banks for ATM receipts.
Having said that, most nodes on the meshes will have 24 hour garages and/or cash points. Certainly on the Eastern Peaks and Plains Mesh it's the case.

The basic steps are outlined here:
http://www.aukweb.net/cal/perms/diy.pdf
Your regional organisers are now found here:

Hope that helps.
By the way, routes do ot have to be circular - they just have to be 100km
