I use an old turbo trainer for adusting the gears. Means I can put some load on and road test out without going outside! Also works with a tandem (otherwise you need 2 bike stands

£53.51 from Ribble
But not in stock.

They come with a variety of names on them, they're all the same Union stand. Here's a review;
Bikeradar

The stand in question is the "Union" stand, which is sold by many shops under a variety of names. Usually around the £55 mark.

I have a bike stand, clamp type and it works fine. HOWEVER - Two years ago I bought one of the 'Paddy Hopkirk' wall mounted bike storage stands (two hinged arms to hold the bike off the floor).

When the bike is on this I can do 95% of the maintenance without getting the proper stand out. Aldi were doing them for £3.99 - Try Hal***ds.

New biketool (union) bike stand arrived today. Haven't actually used it yet, haven't even mounted a bike in it. My first impression is it is a really fine piece of kit. Made in Taiwan like a lot of things these days but it looks and feels like good quality. The legs and the upright have a really nice finish. The overall impression is one of an oversize good quality camera tripod. But it seems really strong and sturdy. I am happy that I have spent my dough well. I hope I can make just as good use of it.
