Does having your cycle helmet painted over with white gloss paint, protect your head more?

Well, I know that at Easter time, if the children were to win the egg rolling competition, they use to paint their boiled eggs either with gloss paint or with several coats of varnish.
Those children who were less competitive and didnt bother had to endure the shame of broken eggs before the bottom of the hill!

depending on what kind of paint it is it might damage the surface of the helmet.

Or... you leave off with the helmet and just paint your head. (Mine looks like a boiled-egg anyway!)

When I was younger I was into model making, now I am older I am into "making" models!
The hard shell is not the main problem it is the underlying layer of polystyrene.
Some solvent based paints will dissolve or erode polystyrene, and even if it is not obvious there could be some weakening. You can use a polyurethane base coat to "seal" the polystyrene, but it is a lot of effort.
Is there a reason for rll of this or is it cheaper and easier to buy a white helmet
