Maybe you've been overdoing things a bit as well. The weight loss is pretty impressive and you must feel a lot better fo it, but it must have been hard work for the knees. Why not try easing off a little for a while and concentrate on maintaining your current level of fitness while you get things sorted.

i used to have sore knees...and at the time took fish oil capsules - from boots- ( not cod liver ones tho)
it helps relieve the pain as it helps your joints out...
Why so sore?

I'm small and slim and love to ride up hills. Slogging along the flat, however, my right knee especially can start to niggle after an hour. Instant relief comes with getting out of the saddle for a few revs.
Glucosamine has helped enormously with shoulder pain. (I'm round-shouldered and have Impingement Syndrome).
When I used to drive, I had lots of trouble down my right side from lower back, through hip to right knee. I suspect that was to do with using the accelerator with my titchy feet.

Funny that - I started taking fish oil (for omega oil) on someone's suggestion, at the same time as I started he warm knee/lower gears regime, and which of the three worked I don't know, but something worked.

Yes - that's logical and that's what I thought, but I don't know whether it's as simple as that.

I'd count my pedal revolutions, cadence, if you are turning significantly slower than 70 times a minute it will strain your knees after a while, learning to spin the pedals faster say between 75 and 85 turns a minute will ease the problem to the point you will lose the pain.
Many newbies feel that they really need to be pushing hard on the pedals in order to get a good work out. This is a fallacy and spinning faster is better for you as well as faster in the long run.
