Thanks for the publicity!

Have a good ride, Donald and Ben, and my fingers are crossed for good weather for you!

I'm off again this afternoon, to pick up Mark and Dave, and escort them out of Cornwall. This time, we're on the southern route - Truro/St Austell/Liskeard/Tavistock.

Busy, busy, busy!

You've got a job as an escort, eh? Personally I wouldn't have said you had the legs for it ... :-)

Blog now updated:

Today is day 7, and we're in Nottingham - about a day ahead of schedule. Tomorrow's target is Selby.

We're now well over halfway there. Just above Newcastle, with 570 miles cycled and around 400 left to go:
http://www.benlovejoy.com/cycle/tripreports/lejog/

Of course, most of those 400 are in Scotland with big hills and Scottish weather to contend with, so we're not being complacent, but I am feeling reasonably confident that we'll make it.

We're taking a rest day today, and I have no intention of moving any further from the sofa than to the kettle and back.

Fabulous blog & pictures Ben! Great to see people going through places you know & recognise. I got slightly misty eyed seeing the pictures going up through Nottinghamshire & its gentle rolling hills!

Still wouldn't beanywhere other than Cornwall now though

Thanks, Deckie. Not sure how often I'll be able to get wifi to update in darkest Scotchland, but hope to have it in Edinburgh tonight.

Ben

Cracking pics. Good luck (and good weather) for the rest of the ride.

(The East Riding was abolished in 1974 but Humberside - a local government area divided by a river a mile wide - was so unpopular they brought it back again. http://www.eastriding.gov.uk/ )

Excellent stuff Ben and Donald.

Have a great ride tomorrow, and enjoy yourselves.

As I said when I left you at Sourton, "Give my love to John O'Groats!"

Bon Voyage!

Thanks, Thirdcrank, and for the info - though I suspect corrections will need to wait a while!

Cheers, Mick - Scotland appears to be hilly - not sure if you noticed?

Ben,

Fabulous! Have enjoyed reading your posts daily, and -like certain Christmas songs- read every day each day as you update, as it were. When you've finished this amazing journey, I wonder if you'd be so kind as to answer Q's on trikes - never had one but your blog has whetted my appetite. I'm currently stuck in the US (where I ended up some time ago under the misapprehension that it may have been a good idea to live here) but am hankering for a return to blighty. And then......

Good luck with the rest of the trip and safe cycling.
