The "n+1" equation

I must surely commend the application of the n+1 equation in all aspects of life such as;
How much sleep is enough?
How much chocolate am I allowed?
How many curries am I allowed?
and not forgetting....
How many cycles can I have?

n+1 seems to work to my mate's clock.
I fixed the ratchets.
Then it wouldn't go, so I fixed that.
Then the chimes kept jamming, so I fixed that.
A spring broke, so I jobbed that by making a new anchor.
Today, a cog wheel started slipping where the steel inner cog mates with the large brass outer. It's taken me 5 hours today stripping it down and fixing it again.
Is it worth it?
It will be for all the beer he owes me!!

The old limerick says it all:
There was a young fellow from Lyme,
who lived with three wives at a time.
When asked why the third,
he replied "One's absurd,
and bigamy, Sir, is a crime".

whereas n+1 might apply to cycles, I find that the increase in parts is exponential

Furthermore n+1 for cycles always seems to equate to n-2 interms of the space to keep them in.

It's definitely true for bikes. When I got my fixed-wheel I knew for certain that it was the last bike I'd ever need.
Once my fitness was up, I realised how many more cars I'd be able to overtake on a geared bike... so now I want one of those too!
I'm also building up a "pub bike" (because I wouldn't leave my "good" bike outside), I have just bought a mountain bike, and I *really* would like
one of these...
Bah!

I think she'd be more worried about the new recumbent that I've looking at!

Not worried because I can trust you!
Also because I know that you are not going to get one.........

N+1 bikes at our abode is directly proportional to n+101 pairs of shoes and or handbags owned by Mrs Beachcomber

Definitely going to go for another recumbent now!
