I dont think that my friends who go to the great effort of arranging local Audaxes and worry about getting enough entrants to make it worthwhile would thank me much if I was to stop "exploiting" them by entering their Audaxes.

Nor do I begrudge people who turn up at events that I organise who are not members of that organisation turning up and taking part.
I even renewed my membership of my motorcycle club inorder to run an event that I have run for years despite the fact that I no longer am motorcycling myself.
Attending that motorcycle event was another non-Audax cyclist who frequently gives up his time to man Audax checkpoints for Audax cyclists.

So thank god enough of us can see past narrow minded self interest and involve in a bit of give and take community spirit and not get obsessed about who is paying their way.

When Audax UK has enough support from within then they will limit entries to members untill then they will welcome guests who make up the numbers and keep the events viable.

I too found Audax to be somewhat of a clique - and not one I particularly wanted to be part of. I have no problem with the concept, but found the collecting of points and earning badges to be better suited to cub scouts. I would also find a decent ride being interrupted to have my card stamped or answer some ridiculous question to prove that I had not cheated on the route. Still, cycling has room for all types.

I quite enjoy collecting badges but my Scout blanket is full now.
