Re: Am I the first
My screen resolution is 1280 pixels wide and the new design fills the whole width. The author info box is way over to the right and the start of the post text box is way over to the left. I would prefer a fixed width so that things are more central on the screen with some space at each side - easier to read with a narrower column. I suppose I'll get used to it.
It would be nice if we could post bigger images as well.
Many thanks to Forum Admin.

Yes, Patrick is the first here but would like to see the whole CTC site and organisation redisigned, rebranded, restyled etc. At the moment it is boring and stuffy - like an obscure branch of the civil service. I'd get rid of the stupid 1980's logo, change colour theme, get some nice photos, better use of type face, less waffling content and return to its original pupose of being a small friendly organisation for cycle tourists.
No jam doughnuts stored here overnight

Ah, you would be referring to http://www.ctc.org.uk . . . . not this stylish, high-quality, cutting-edge forum

I've got the resolution lowered on mine to make the text bigger - on the old forum where it was centered I had to keep scrolling to the right to read the rhs of the posts

paulah, you don't need to lower your screen resolution to enlarge text. You can set the text size in your browser at normal screen resolution. If your web browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer, go to menu: Page/Text Size/Larger.
A screen tends to display better at its 'native' (normal) resolution.
Re: Am I the first
There are several different themes available to choose from now, including a fixed-width one that people with very wide screens might prefer. The default style is variable-width, and will re-size to suit the size of your browser window (so no scoll bars on smaller screens).
To switch themes, see: I don't like the new look!

In the default theme you'll also see that there's a "vA^" text-sizing thingy in the top right corner of every page, under the search box. Click this to cycle the text size

Thanks. That's also a feature of the prosilver Special Edition Theme.

Ah but that depends on websites being set up to pick up the browser text size correctly - most either don't pick it up at all or some bits of the site do and some don't, and many sites don't work properly when I set a larger font size through the windows colour scheme. The screen resolution is the only thing that works consistently, short of buying magnifying software.

True.
There's a web browser called Opera. You can install it free - it might help your needs (worth a try anyway) because it has a Zoom feature that really works!
It happens to be an excellent web browser generally.

With my Mac and Firefox, I click "Cmd/+" to zoom in easily. "Cmd/-" zooms out.

Hmmm... Windows does it too: Ctrl/+ (I never knew that
The Opera browser zoom is different, though. It zooms everything, including photos and graphics.
