Seems an obvious solution but its taken me a while to track down these Problem Solvers Handlebar Shims, stocked by Edinburgh Bicycle. Has anyone any experience of these or see a problem with using them? They're 44mm long and, I suppose, 3.2mm thick.

These should be useful. I've busked it before by cutting some thin shims from an old aluminium beer can! Did the job

Yes, alum cans are the time honoured solution to 25.4 to 26, but these are bit more dramatic at 3.2mm thick.

Unless you're very patient that's too big a gap for coke can shims. They're cheap enough to buy and they work.
