I wonder what's in the bottles - any caption suggestions, folks?

regards to all, Braz.

Five kilometers down the road Marcel thought his water tasted a little strange!

Judging by the bike, it's a very old pic.

Bottle holder on the bars - that was around in the 60s, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring it back.

I bought bottle cages like that in the early 80s.

They were great - with a long straw, you didn't even need to take the bottles out to drink :D

But yes, I think the pic is older than that.

The long straw was banned by health & safety in case you braked suddenly while drinking, wasn't it?

'Competitions with pics of bikes against signs? I can't see much future in that.'

Ere - somethings changed! I was going to put the whole picture up for your approval, but how do I do that now?

Technology was never my strong point, and I can't get the Allen Keys to fit this new page................

Keep those captions coming (the best ones are on PM's!)

regards to all, Braz.

Sorry Braz! To attach photos now, use the Upload Attachment tab under the message box. Hope you find this easier than before. The board will make a reduced-size copy for the post, but you can click on this to view the full-sized version.

That cuddy is a Highland pony though!

Recognise that breed anywhere! (I used to breed them myself a long way back!)

Great pic

Are you sure that Cuddy isn't a Gallowa?

Hope this works! Cycletouring magazine from Feb/March 1973, photograph taken in the Hebrides. The diamond sign must be a 'passing place', hopefully not to be misinterpreted by the pony after drinking! Apparently answered to the name of Hamish.

Ah, those were the days - rat traps, side pulls, bottles where you could reach them, a Karrimor uplift, mudflap, waxed cape, and so on. Hang on a bit - I've still got all of those!

regards to all, Braz.

'Where were you in 73?' rings a bell although a lot of the pics on there have gone AWOL  . I should have dated that bike to the 1950's, although we couldn't even spell 'planned obbsolessense' in those far off days

I still can't spell derraileure.

73?
I remember those far-off days, and I remember the thread, though Asdace removed some of his photographs.
Pity.
