I've used Travelodges on many cycling trips, including my LEJoG, and never had any problem taking my bike into my room. I'm not sure I'd try and get a formal company statement on this - there may be legal implications for them and refuse. Just explain to the desk clerk on the day and I'm sure you'll be fine - I always have been.

We stayed in the travel lodge in Dumbarton on our Lejog last year. There were no ground floor rooms left so they kindly let us put our bikes in the laundrey room which was then locked.

I've booked to stay at Todhills (Carlisle) and I enquired about bike security and was told that I could put my bike in the laundry.

Last September when Ben Lovejoy, Wildduck and I did the London Sightseer Ben and I stayed at Heston Travelodge we both took our trikes into our rooms.

If worried you might be refused, you could always take a bike bag or large plastic bag to put the bike in removing T'lodge's worries for their carpets and decor.
No problem to carry if you have a support vehicle.
If you do have to leave the bike in the car (which I guess will be an estate of hatch back) it's better to cover the bike over away from prying eyes. Again bike bag or plastic cover comes into use. Keeps the car clean on the return journey too.

Check my journal (see auto sig below).
We had no problems with Travel lodge.
They often gave us a choice between locked store rooms or in our room.
We took the store room option as there were four bikes which would have given us no room to move!
We were allowed to lock our bikes to huge cages (used for moving linen around) as an extra security measure.
In short, you should haven no problems. Just phone ahead and check.

We stayed there and had no problems.
But the only access was via a road that I beleive is now a motorway?
Have they build a service road here or am I wrong about the M-way thing?

I'm pretty sure that all Travelodges can be accessed by service roads, even if they are located in motorway service areas.

Not Todhills, but that’s exactly what we thought. At least, not back then (Summer of 2006). We spent about an hour cycling the lanes that border the service station and didn’t find anything. We called ahead for advice and was told that the only access was via the A74 (which as I say, I believe is now a motorway or at least not accessible to Bikes, there was a thread on this somewhere here).
It had a lawn at the back and as it was a nice day, we took a few bottles of beer back and sat out in the evening sun. It’s a small site and you can see all around the building and petrol station. But it is bordered by fields and we spent a couple of hours drinking beer and watching the rabbits hop about. It was quite a pleasant way to spend an evening.
Oh, that’s another thing, if you stay here be prepared to travel for your evening meal. There is a pub in walking distance but that is up a road which I believe you are no longer allowed to walk or cycle.
Anybody local able to confirm that Todhills is now inaccessible?

Map to Todhills: -
http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_ ... tel_id=199Despite appearances, I have just called them on 0871 984 6127 and have been told that there is no service road and access can only be gained via the motorway.
Anyone with plans to cycle there might want to revise them!

Motorway? It's not according to the Ordnance Survey, or Multimap.
But.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M6_motorway#M6_Carlisle_to_Guards_Mill_Extension"In March 2006, after 15-years of debate, the government authorised the construction of a 6-mile (9.7 km) extension of the M6 from its then northern terminus near Carlisle to the Anglo-Scottish border at Gretna (the so-called "Cumberland Gap"), where it links into the existing A74(M). The road opened on 5 December 2008, the 50th anniversary of the M6 Preston Bypass."

Aye It's quite funny whats just happend. I hadn't read properly the other posts, and I've just booked to get Rachel in as she is going to run as a support vehicle when I do my Le Jog in June. I'd used the same booking form and my name reapeard as the guest! so I phoned them to correct it. I spoke to a young lady on the reception who picked up quikly what I was telling her, and then I added Rachel is coming in a car and I'll be on my Bike, Mmmm she says You do know we're on a motorway. Silence-----------------er no I didn't. but bless her she was a step in front of me, you get picked up in Gretna and get driven back to Todhills. Then in the morning get driven back to Gretna. She's a star!!!!!
Well done that lass on reception.
