Turbo trainer. A device that turns your bicycle into a stationary/exercise bike. Most of them support the bike at the rear hub in such a way as to place the rear wheel against a roller. The friction and opposing force (provided by various means) through the roller allows you to ride your bike indoors whilst watching the telly. Much better than nasty old wind, rain, hills, icy winter weather, etc.

Errr...
A quick count discovers that I possess 2 (two) feet.
A quick inspection of own bicycle reveals 2 (two) pedals currently attached.
A detailed pedal/foot calculation turns up the optimum answer (no_of_pedals) = 1.0 x (no_of_feet)
Therefore it seems I only need 1 (one) bicycle at any one time.
I'm going to get lynched for saying this aren't I?

Actually I have two. Rather like Glueman, one 'best' and one 'hack' - and the hack in some respects is better than the best.

As with others on here, the number you have + 1, you always just need another for a specific purpose.

I like the illness ref.

I have done a quick mental count and I have 12 solos, 3 trikes and an ordinary. Wife used to complian but she now has 4 solos

My excuse is that most are very unusual (Bates, Hetchins, Sun Manx TT ) collectors items

Wife seems to like it when I spend time in the garage and out of her way .

So not enough bikes could cause a divorce !?!

Is 30 Minutes on the exercise bike enough when having intervals of dumbbell training every 10 minutes?
I managed to do 30 minutes on my exercise bike today. Is this enough when taking a break every 10 minutes to do different exercises with dumbbells and muscle training such as sit ups or should I try to increase this even more? Also, I can only exercise at night due to early starts at college, is this OK, as I have read that it is better exercise in the morning?

In a slight variation to the proposed formula (n+1) being enough bikes, there must be one bike that is ridden more than others. Therefore re-arrange the formula to 1  THE FAVOURITE BIKE
+ n :) ALL THE OTHER, POTENTIALLY FAVOURITE BIKES

If running short of space/ excuses, one can always cut & shut a few frames to increase the scrap pile.

Kind regards, Punk_shore

God, reading this has made me feel so much better!! Had a hybrid about 10 years old but which is good..and I don't want to get rid of; bought a Claud Butler Dalesman last summer since when I've really increased my cycling; got a bit obsessed with the idea of a bike with rohloff hub, and after loads of looking/reading/persusing, bought a cannondale bad boy with rohloff hub last month...thoughts veered between 'Go on, you know you want/deserve it' to the more logical appoach of how many bikes can you need.....now I see three is nothing..absolutely nothing!! (thinks.....those campag gears seem to be the buseiness......dont have a bike with them on....hmm)
