V brake pads on Road brakes

I think I've seen this on sheldn's site, thinking of putting dual compound V salmons on my road bike caliper (?) brakes. Wise or foolish?
If I had a baby elephant, I would put it on a recumbent trike so that it would become invisible.

I had V brake blocks fitted to the front calliper on an earlier Brompton , which worked well and allowed easy toeing in.
