Prescription Sunglasses For Cycling

Does any one know where I can get some reasonably priced wraparound
prescription sunglasses suitable for cycling?
I don't want to pay £150 or more. Some of the places I've Googled seem very expensive.

I'm short sighted and wear glasses all the time. I'm fed up with normal glasses that let the wind
in and fog up. Photochromatic lenses would be good too.
If the lenses changed from light to dark I could use them all year round.

I'm off to get my eyes tested.

If you have single prescription not bifocals the Tesco sell some they call sports goggles for about £40. These are not photo chromatic. I think you may end up paying a good amount for them.

Optilabs do them for around that price. I bought some but i found that they gave quite a distorted view and i couldn't get on with them. I know others have had better experiences with them though.

I have prescription glasses from Optilabs (Scorch). I normally wear varifocals - so needed distance plus close/reading. They made me a transition bifocal - it works well for me. I can now see roads signs and read my computer.

They were very helpful - they sent dummy frames for me to try free of charge.

But I just had single prescription lenses with photo chromatic treatment early last year at a cost of £120. Never a problem.
So to previous poster who did have problems then I would be referring it back to Optilabs.

Good luck with the glasses as they protect you far better than normal fashion ones, and cost a lot less.

Being a good Yorkshireman I was loath to pay for prescription cycling glasses so I tie wrapped an old pair of my normal glasses to the inside of my Kyoto cycling glasses. I took the arms off the proper glasses and took the pads off the cycling glasses. A bit of careful bending and one tie wrap at the bridge and one on each arm and hey presto.

I already had both sets of glasses so the total cost was nothing. I am now using the same cycling glasses with my varifocals.

[They are your eyes , what price do you put on them ? I have used Optilabs on a few(4)occasions and find them 1st class,good luck on finding what you are looking for.

You have to decide what you want. In my case I never ride without glasses, and hence I want different lenses for different conditions.

I invested in a set of Rudy Project Glasses about three eyars ago and thes are fine. I then bought the optical inserts and get my lenses placed into these.

Another vote for Optilabs.

I used them about 18 months ago having read numerous recommendations on here. Bought a pair with photochromatic lenses which are great.

Fashion wise I'm not too happy about looking the part (or should that be "cool"?!), but there is no doubt that wrap around designs are excellent. No more streaming eyes going down hill, no more bugs getting in, and easier checks over the shoulder without wind blast etc etc. Brilliant.

Have you tried Specsavers, some of their outlets have sports frames for about £50. I bought some Osiris wrap around sun glasses, they reduced the frame price to about £58, the lenses were at normal price. Have worn them quite a bit and they seem pretty good. Reason why I have them is because eyes have suffered UV damage. Down side of being out on good days?

Same here.

Mine felt like I was riding a bike that was a foot high and I couldn't ride in a group due to the distortion. I should have sent them back but never got round to doing it. One of the reasons I don't like buying stuff off the internet. At least if you get them from somewhere local, you can pop back in if you have a problem.

It's easy to say send them back if you have a problem, but they should have been right first time. They ask for enough detail on the website form and they even rang me to check that i'd entered the prescription correctly ( which I had).

Hello Peeps,3 weeks ago I bought the wrap around sunglasses with a prescription insert for 40pounds from Tesco.I took my prescription in on a monday evening and got a text on wednesday to say they were ready to pick up.The lenses are close to my eyelashes and steam up when stopped but 40pounds+points and such good service I happy to comprimise.Urban manc could try them they're from Tesco at Handforth
