One of the most used articles of clothing from Lidl or Aldi (forget which) is a full length zip track suit style cycling top, the kind of thing UK manufacturers used to do but is rare now. Very warm, fleecy lined with back pockets, in yellow - unlike the old version that used to be green or black.
Modern materials give it some rainproofing and breathability so it's ideal for British conditions with a thin wicking vest underneath, especially touring when you might keep stopping to look at things and get chilly.
