The famous and much-lamented Primus stove frame-clip thread went down the same electronic plughole. In the long-run, I don't suppose mankind was any the worse off.

Please flag up any incidentals like this if they occur again.
I would expect a developing topic to be spotted and moved to a less transient board.

To be fair, I don't think we get many real gems in for sale or wanted.
I should have thought if anybody has a back query, they only have to post on the lines of 'To whoever it was who wanted the Osgear jockey wheel, I've found a box of NOS in my granny's cellar'
The only thing I've seen recently that could have been lost and needed saving was gaz's guidance about posting pics, which was on the test board and was moved to a more permanent slot (although I'm not sure that the tights needed preserving for our grandchildren....)
