Bikes on Belgium trains

Post by Neil Wheadon »

Hi
How easy is it to get a bike on a local service in Belgium and does it cost anything and are there limits on bike numbers?

Thanks

It costs 5 euro, and you should steer clear of Brussels Central, but apart from that: just turn up and get on, I think. Some info here:

As has been said, one MAY take a bike on Belgian trains.
Whether one CAN depends on your health and strength. My companion and I travelled on 3 local trains some weeks ago. There were generally 4 significant steps up into the train. At one station the platform was higher thus reducing the climb to only 3 steps. I don't know how people travel with pushchairs or wheelchairs.

If I can make it work I will add a photo showing access to a Belgian intercity train. The train height is same as local trains.
