Self Guided Holland trip

Post by Manx Cat »

Still looking for a good family holiday maybe for another year, for myself and my 2 girls in Holland. We intend to hire bikes...

While doing some research on this subject, I found the below site. Thought others might be interested.

Hey, that looks really interesting. I've been looking at doing a 4/5 day tour with my 19 and 20 year old kids, was looking at getting a ferry to Dieppe- but Holland looks like a good possibility. I think my daughter would be very keen on the lack of hills!

We just got back from a ten day circular tour in Holland via the Hoek.
To be honest, we probably did a bit to much distance, and not enough sight seeing etc, but it was still enjoyable
Its really a great place, and getting around is easy as most areas use the knoopunten system, basicaly a quiet cycle route between two numbered points. As nice as some of the LF routs are they tend to ziz zag about a bit sometimes. There are also red routes, generally the most direct route.
I am sure you will enjoy it, but pack your water proofs.

I wrote an easy reader novel about a father taking his two children through Holland, Germany and Denmark on bikes. I then cycled the route and visited schools on the way. It was a great trip and I can thoroughly recommend both Holland and Northern Germany (and Denmark). If you'd like to see some pictures: http://www.jeremytaylor.eu/all4love_tour.htm if you'd like to see the fantastic cycle lanes of those countries.
If you're sitting in your car, complaining about the traffic, don't forget, you are the traffic.
