Touring and the Tour (of Britain)

It just so happens that my plans for touring around the south west of England this September co-incide with the Tour of Britain being in the same area. I'll go and see the race pass by somewhere but was wondering whether anyone had any views on how suitable the two routes selected for the ToB were as the basis for a couple of days touring (I'm heading form Glastonbury to Falmouth then along the coast to New Forest). The routes are viewable here:
Frome to Bideford: http://www.tourofbritain.co.uk/_ns_race ... _route.asp
Hatherleigh to Yeovil: http://www.tourofbritain.co.uk/_ns_race ... _route.asp
As it goes i'm also going to be in Manchester for the North West stage and Staffordshire for the Stoke-on-Trent stage - am I following them or are they following me?
