Track/floor pump

Has anyone any recomendations for a good one?
I own a Blackburn one with a similar head to this one http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Black ... 110000247/
I've never been entirely happy with it as occasionally it would blow off the valve during inflation,I've faffed about with it and even bought a new rebuild kit like this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Black ... 300003967/ but nothing has improved, its a shame really as the pump itself seems pretty robust, its just the connection thats cr@p.

I would prefere a brass screw on connection either that would fit the B/burn or a new pump with a reliable connection, anyone any ideas?

I have a similar problem with my Silca - as soon as you start to approach a good pressure the thing flies off the valve. So I tie it on with a bit of string - tied to the back of the connector bit, looped around the rim and then wrapped around the connector again. Seems to work OK but is a bit of a fiddle.

I had a Silca for many, many years, since bit the dust. Before it went, I bought one of these:

My new pump, a Serfas, came with a rubbish fitting, so I shoved my Topeak Twinhead on.
I now have a perfect pump.

I've a Topeak Twister, bought some years ago following a recommendation in the CTC mag by CJ. (This model is now discontinued) Mine has the 'Smarthead' which is supposed to interchange between presta and schrader using just one nozzle. In a recent thread CJ slated that feature and said he had changed his opinion after longer term use. I've never used mine on Schrader valves so I've never had the problem mentioned by CJ. Mine works perfectly and I've always been really pleased with it - it makes pumping tyres a pleasure. It's one of those (numerous) bits of equipment which I wish had been available 40+ years ago. Except in those days I could not have afforded them. (Decent cable cutters are another example.)

Other posts, here and on other sites, speak very highly of the Joe Blow pump.

I've got a Specialized one that was around 20 quid a year ago. Can remember what it's called but seems to work fine. Can't comment on longevity but I don't know how I managed before I got it!

The best track pump is also dependent upon what you intend to inflate. As a rough guide
Fatter - gives large volume but lower presuure suitable for MTB
Narrower - smaller volume but capable of higher pressures - racing tyres

The fatest tyres are 40mm (Hybrid 60psi) all the other bikes are either 32mm (tandems 85/90psi) or 28mm (solos 90psi) so a high pressure road/track pump suits my needs best I think.

They were selling Beto aluminium barrled ones in my local Lidl the other week for £5, I've had them before & seem to work well.

I bought my track pump from EBC, their own-brand one. I'm still happy with it, automatically adapts to presta and shraeder and never caused any worries.

I bought one of those simply because it was cheap,a wasted £5 I'm sorry to report it didn't last long.

I've ordered the Topeak JoeBlow Sport, after all the good things said about it on here and after having a bit of a Google for reviews,so I eagerly awaite in anticipation behind the front door :)

PS I'll report back on the reviews page thread that Gaz (thanks Gaz)started.
