in reply to Gearoidmuar,I don't agree either,whilst my experience of alloy frames is limited (and then only to tandems,for serious riding,I own an alloy Hybrid but only use it for local rides) I can certainly tell the difference between steel and alloy.
That said we can't compare like with like, simply because we are dealling with two completely different materials with differing properties.
Though I will agree to a great extent tyres,tyre pressures,angles,and the contact points(that includes shoes and shorts) make a huge difference to comfort.

Steel is an "alloy". I think that you mean "alu" as in aluminium.
