Ok can anyone help, I need to get building up my Edison fast tourer, at last now house renovation is about finished( though now she's mentioned moving!)I have a 105 9 speed octalink triple crankset so I need bits to match.
I have been watching Ebay etc for a while and despite what many say 9 speed stuff doesn't come up that often, I need a long cage rear deraillieur and a triple front 28.6 band on(they all seem to be clip on that are offered).
The levers are available NOS so I will get a set of those, are there any other front mechs that will work? I also prefer 105 and silver finish, if anyone knows a shop with 9 speed 105 in stock NOS or if any one has upgraded and has vgc used stuff let me know , I would also gu up to Ultegra etc if the price is right.
Cheers in advance.

You can safely use a 10 speed rear mech. The Nine speed levers determine how far the mech moves. 105 components were dirt cheap a year ago when I built up a Dave Yates tourer. When it came to doing the same thing with another bike, I found that the components had become scarce and that their prices had rocketed. I had to compromise and use some Sora componentry which, because of Shimano prices rises, was more expensive than the 9 speed 105 stuff that I'd bought six months earlier yet cheaper than 9 speed 105 stuff on sale at the time of the second bike build - lots of vendors had wised up to the elevated prices that folk were willing to pay to avoid purchasing 10 speed stuff.
