Does anyone know how to make a Carradice Bagman Q/R sport stop falling apart?
The bag support will repeatedly jetison itself out of the clamp. One spring and metal slide lever has also fallen off and gone missing. How can this be replaced?
This situation is highly dangerous as the support could fall into the rear wheel.
I have thought about retaping the grub screw holes and fitting bigger screws that have more contact area with the ends of the support and also adding some thread lock. I am not sure if this will remedy the situation but I have no other ideas.
The concept of the product is very appealing when it works but I have found more often than not that it doesn't work.

Re: ...to stop a Carradice Bagman Q/R sport from falling apart?
I think this is quite common - new ones have longer allen bolts with lock nuts on the end to stop them loosening - I suppose you could try this approach?
My solution was to file flats in the ends of the wire loop and then use threadlock on the allen bolts - since then it hasn't loosened again

Thanks for that. I also have the missing quick release lever to replace any thoughts?

Phone Carradice and they'll stick one in the post (Well they did for me) Then use a bit of loctite on the new one.
Re: ...to stop a Carradice Bagman Q/R sport from falling apart?
I used a dremel to put a dimple in the end of the wire support rod, put a small ball bearing down the hole, and clamped it down into the dimple with the grub screw and a bit of thread lock. I also used a bit of thread lock on the release triggers since one had shown signs of looseness before getting as far as falling off.
No problems since.

Thanks everyone I am going to call them and have a go at the bearing and thread lock route.
