IT'S BEHIND YOU!!!
Re: IT'S BEHIND YOU!!!
Sorry, no.
I read it properly, and quoted it properly too.
The table is contradictory.
Also, I've just been on a few websites, and DFT have the best bits, but the page isn't complete. It refers to a table below, but there isn't one.
http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roads/vehicle ... 576?page=5
Mirror requirements
The tables below summarise the number, type and standard of mirror required to be fitted to various types of vehicle.

Re: IT'S BEHIND YOU!!!
I find recumbent mirrors (or at least mine) a different kettle of fish to upright mirrors. My 'bent mirror is on an OSS so I just look to the right to see what's behind me over my right shoulder - more or less the same as a car internal mirror but reversed. It's very natural, quick and gives a very good view of what's behind.
My old upright, bar mounted mirror, on the other and, always took a moment or two to focus properly, plus it was further from my head so the image was less expansive. It was usable but looking over the should would have been much the preferred option if it wasn't for neck damage.
I tried one of those helmet mounted mirrors - complete waste of time - took ages to focus, could see hardly anything, loads of vibration and got knocked easily whenever I put the helmet down.

Cars first used before 1 June 1978 must have at least one mirror fitted either internally or externally.
Whoops

Here's another link:
http://www.ukmot.com/6-6.asp#Text_top
It says, though not very clearly, that you need:
RH mirror
or
LH mirror
or
Interior mirror

We had 1 hour of sunshine yesterday.
I understand that the weather here should cheer up over the next few days. It rained every day, if not all day, for weeks.
If it was sunny here, I'd be on my bike trying to feel better. Instead I'm sitting feeling grumpy and arguing a stupid point about mirrors!
I need to get a life ......

No it doesn't!
Yes it does further down, but it doesn't say anything about all mirrors fitted since that date in the first bit. It repeats itself and doesn't differentiate.
I suggest you read it again .......
(I've got nothing better to do than argue pedantics about a badly worded table. I've given up trying to find a definitive statement that is written correctly and unambiguously put.)
