A long off-road climb to start.

The ride is promoted as an on-and-off road scenic ride, so use of bridleways is to be expected. Any route starting from Marsden is going to have uphill sections, unless it just follows the canal, railway line or A62. I would say it looks like a nice leisure ride for those with chunky tyred mountain bikes.

True, I wasn't sure who the ride was aimed at. I'd do it clockwise with the downhill finish from the Isle of Skye but an attractive route either way.

There's not going to be any route in Kirklees that doesn't involve a climb! Apart from maybe Outlane to the town centre.

Also true. There are two ways of looking at an uphill slog near the beginning of a leisure cyclists' route. One is people will think 'blow this for a lark', the other is they'll get the tough bit over early. Both have merits, I was just responding to the request for comments not criticising the route.
