Slogan/catch phrase/thingy?

Post by Si »

Redesigning our club website and trying to come up with a snappy title banner.
Bearing in mind the recent threads on why people cycle I want to put the emphasis on fun, health and practicality rather than politics, green issues, etc

So, what I have so far is something like:

North Brum Cycling
with the North Brum CTC

-cycling for fun, fitness and practicality

My main problem is the "practicality" - I'm not sure that it's that catchy or gets the message across that well. Any other ideas for the third line?

BTW, the need for the top two lines comes from the PITA idea that we have to have "CTC" in our member group name. If we just have the banner as "North Brum CTC" how is any newbie going to know that it's a cycling club? The average Jo(e) in the street has no idea what CTC stands for. I think that we wanted to be called North Brum Cycling but were not allowed :( But I digress.

like it. cheers!
perhaps pushing the comradeship part of it rather than the practicality is a better idea (as practicality can easily be mistaken for poor man's transport I guess?)

Here how I think of getting new people to ride.

It must be enjoyable, if it sweat pain and boring machines they would go to a gym.

Most people want an activity not associated with work. So if commuting is pushed they reasonably think of some for of work centered training.
You inform them after they have started to enjoy cycling they can always cycle to work.
How does riding out to a cafe for tea and cakes do anything for the environment. Again later they find out it is possible to cycle and not use a car.

The most important thing to me is a friendly reception. If I turned up only to be told I had the wrong bike/mudguards/clothing/and all the other things experienced cyclists say to newcomers will put any body of. If you are told you got it wrong are you likely to go back.

You can always say that CTC stands for Cycling Transportation Campaign
