croce d'aune delta brakes and m/g clearances?

Hello
I am having a Condor Classico built with extended brake clearance for 49mm calipers (pushes pads to end of the slots to allow mudguards) and wondered if anyone has experience of using Croce D'Aune delta brakes in this configuration? Am wanting to fit 25mm conti's which are quite large plus mudguards.
The Croce D'aune Delta's are different to the record ones in that they have slots for the pads and look like they have a lot of space in the gap but am wondering if anyone else has done this?
MAny thanks
Simon

As it happens I'm speccing a light tourer mainly with Campag, but the brakes will be Shimano BR-R650.
Might as well ask what kind of roofrack you can put on a Lambourghini!

Going off topic a little bit.
I have been looking at the R650, RX100 and R450.
What do you get that makes it worth spending the extra money?
When the R650 is offered for around £70 is that for one or a pair?

Hmmm, can't really help with the CDA Deltas but I have a pair of Record Deltas and there's certainly not enough room for mudguards with 23mm tyres. The gap is certainly wider with CDAs but I'm not sure if it's any deeper.
Two things worry me on this:
(1) even if you can fit 'guards in the gap, it won't be a safe fit. It will only take a stone to jam in the tiny gap to wreck your guards, your Shiny Deltas, and your toothy grin;
(2) as CJ says, why would you want to? Deltas are never going to look at their best straddling a set of fat chromoplastic wellies, and - believe me - they don't work very well compared to modern dual pivots. Save them for a lovely skinny bit of italian racing steel for sunny Sunday cafe cruising.
Postscript: I have seen Deltas adapted to fit fatter tyres (specifically 17x1-1/4" Moulton tyres) by filing the slots deeper. And yes it works, but if it's your proper bike, there are times when your life will depend on your brakes being reliable. Would you risk it?
