Overshoes for Exustar Stelvios

Post by fatboy »

I've nearly worn out my carradice overshoes (worn through on the walked on bit) and I'm looking for a replacement. Now since the Stelvios are pretty waterproof apart from the leg-hole (the carradice ones didn't close at the top so the nicely waterproof shoes filled up like a bucket!) I'm thinking that I don't really need waterproof ones, just ones that will keep a bit of wind out on cold days and deflect the worst of the water. Am I barking up the wrong tree here? I don't want to spend a whole lot.

Any thoughts/recommendations appreciated.

I take a size 11 shoe and I can recomment Gore Gortex overshoes, I've had mine a couple of years and they seem to be very hard wearing. I've done a lot of walking in them pushing bikes up very steep hills, no signs yet of the bottoms wearing through. They are fairly easy to get on and keep my feet warm and dry. I did the End to End last year, wearing them just about every day due to the awful weather, allways had dry feet at the end of the day.

They do look good. Where I go to try before I buy I'm not sure!
