I've recently bought a bulk load of caliper brake blocks, with a seperate replaceable cartridge insert (Clarkes CP 240's). At a 76% discount, they worked out to be even cheaper than the disposable brake blocks I normally use, thus resulting in my purchasing 16 pairs!
Not having used replaceable cartridge insert brake blocks previously, are the cartridge inserts designed for Shimano,Campag, koolstop (sp) caliper brake blocks essentially identical, in terms of size and fitting and thus, are they likely to fit the Clarkes caliper brake blocks?
I wouldn't mind trialing a range of cartridge inserts, not least because the cheap disposable blocks I've had access to recently, have been lasting as little as four weeks (Albeit in that example, extreme snow, ice and road grit had an impact on their lifespan)

They are supposed to be an "industry standard" but in reality, with tolerance variations, some are really tight some nice and easy but I've never found any dangerously loose
