Advie on selling late 80's /early 90's bikes / parts

Hi,

I'm after some advice - I have a couple of bikes from close on 20 years ago when I first started riding and would like some advice with regards to selling all / some parts from them.

The brakes on my road bike are Campag Croce D'Aune Deltas - used but pretty good condition. Are these still in demand, or is it just the Record delta's ?

I suspect the brakes are worth more than the rest of the bike (basic Concorde frame with mix of Campag / 105 )....

My time trial bike had PMP L Shaped cranks (put on by the previous owner !) ...would these be the sort of novelty item that would be worth selling ?

The time trial frame itself - not a name I am aware of but a nice enough frame ( from the era when the rear brake was mounted behind bottom bracket) - but does anyone buy or even ride low profile frames with 26inch front wheel ?

Thanks in advance
NIck

I would imagine you could find a buyer for any Deltas, maybe not at Record prices, have a lurk on Ebay. Usual top tip for retro bike stuff is to make sure it is open to US purchasers

They sell too. Put a moderately high opening bid or reserve on just in case the only people looking are interested in reselling for an easy profit. There's someone on www.timetrialling forum.co.uk whose sig is IIRC "Still searching for a LH 177.5mm PMP crank" They have a sale/wanted section too.

You won't know unless you try and sell. If you have a front wheel to match it obviously helps.

If you look on Ebay you will find that even CDA delta's sell quite well - would recommend a starting price of £100 or thereabouts. Similarly, the PMP cranks are very rare and will get sold quite easily. And a lo-pro 80's steel frame will get snapped up by the london fixie crowd. This retro stuff is very sought after these days. So advice is to split it all up (you will definitely achieve more this way), title it very clearly (search Ebay for similar to get the idea) and you will do quite well.

Good luck

A high reserve or starting price on an ebay auction usually results in a lower end price because it puts bidders off. If you're sure there's a demand for what you're selling (check completed listing to be sure) sling it up for a penny and watch the competitve bidding war unfold.

Those low pro time trial frames were completely worthless until recently. Now, for reasons best known to themselves, the courier fraternity (and the wannabees) love them, so they're starting to sell.

You'll get far more for your bike if you split it and sell the parts separately, but you have to accept that some of it will be worthless.

I think they offer vfm, just got my paws on a 753 Condor in my size plus carbon forks, fitted record headset, plus carbon 0 degree seatpost for £125! Not so much of a wannabee after all, but 30 yrs after my pb maybe its a mid-life crisis
