A cynic would suggest the corporate view has been arrived at by carefully managed increments designed to make a corporation out of a club. Suspicion and hearsay have been around for years, what's new is a few people on the inside are saying thus far and no further. It's my misfortune to take a dim view of committee wallahs, based on similar groups I've had knowledge of in the past. Those who challenge concensus tend to get drowned by the weight of disapproval, and there are always those who simply like sitting on committees and appearing to make a difference - whatever that difference might be.

Things have been allowed to slide because cyclists would rather be out cycling than weighing the merits of various strategic proposals, even if they are given the time to consider them properly. We are fortunate at this time to have members sufficiently knowledgable to dig and delve rather than take things on trust (sic), It remains to be seen whether they carry sufficient weight of opinion to stem the tide of corporate transformation.

The Club has always been a company though.

recent corporate history has shown that if directors (which is what CTC Councillors are) don't go public when they have concerns then the concerns may not be properly addressed, and the shareholders and the public tend to get shafted. Just think Equitable Life and the recent financial crisis.

It is clear that company directors have a responsibility and an obligation to speak out when they think things are going wrong.
