Apologies for the period when the forum was unavailable, or extremely slow to respond, this evening. It appears that for about an hour and 25 minutes between 17:40 and 19:05 there was serious congestion on the network caused by a deliberate attack on another machine. This attack has now been blocked, and normal service resumed.
