As far as B&Bs are concerned, quite a few take a break from about October to just before Easter so be prepared to maybe not have as much choice as you would have later in the year.

Have you had a look at your route profile using something like map my ride?

Sorry to come back to this but weather forecast looking good for Fort William/ Arisaig area next week. I am thinking of driving to Tulloch station on Tuesday and the cycling:
Wednesday Tulloch station to Glennfinnan
Thursday Glennfinnan along Loch Shiel to Polloch, Strontian and Acharacle, staying in Acharacle
Friday Acharacle to Arisaig then train back to Tulloch station

However I have read that there has been a lot of snow recently .Would anyone happen to know whether these roads are passable, particularly Day 2.
I have a choice of a Gary Fisher mountain bike on 26x 1.5 tyres or A Dawes Galaxy.
My son has a Specialized Secteur.
Many thanks
Charles

According to
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/travel/
Heavy snow, ice and localised flooding are causing very poor driving conditions across the country. Many roads are closed with others only passable with care. Police are warning against all but essential travel.

The A884 Lochaline to Strontian road is closed, as is the A889 Laggan to Dalwhinnie road, the A9 at Drumochter pass and the A82 is closed north of Crianlarich at Tyndrum, so your only route to Fort William will be via Oban.
Of course it's a race...

A good start is take the train to Rannoch and cycle to Pitlochry.
My self and Bobs did it on Monday , traffic free good roads followed by a night in the hostel at Pitlochry £16.
Tuesday we followed the cycle network down to Perth, before boarding the train back home.
Good to get some miles in now that the weathers on the turn.
Its only a start but you could add the further route south for the additional 2 days you have.
