Re:Travel Agent
I'll have a look tomorrow how they are fitted, but we have them fitted on one of our tandems with road STI's and V brakes. They are stokers head in the back good,by far the best tandem brake system i've had, with the Arai drag brake I think the set up takes some beating.

Had a look and the cable enters from the brake lever goes around the small section of the pulley though a hole then around the large section of the pulley then exits though the noodle to the V brake.
Its a device for amplifing cable pull so V's can be used with road levers, the trade off is pressure ie loss of leverage, but as I said on my previous post they work very well the bike we have them fitted to.

Re:Travel Agent
They are designed to fit where the noodle goes on a V brake. However, a few years ago Chris Juden wrote a piece about why they are more effective the closer they are to the brake lever. Maybe that article is filed away in Q&A on this site somewhere.
I have used a Travel Agent with no problems. There is one proviso - it must be kept clean and lubricated. Once the disc gets a bit mucky and drags against the holder there is a decrease in effectivity.

Re:Travel Agent
Thanks. It seems you can't fit one without putting a kink in the cable, and therefore have to get it spot on first time. or am I doing something wrong? Only had one spare cable when I attempted to fit and goofed. Maybe the main prob' is they're not compatible with hangovers. I'll try again with clean head and fresh cable.
Re Tabanab's comments on fitting nearer the brake lever. This would seem to make sense: the 'downstream' part of the wire (lever end) moves more than the upstream part (brake end) thus any stretch in the wire will have more impact on the lever end, so it seems sensible to have this part as short as possible.
Having said that, I have travel agents on my tourer and they work well enough despite being fitted according to the instructions, ie in place of the noodles. Although they are a bit grabby, especially in the wet, they will happily stop a loaded bike.
