...just heard via "Audax" that Nev Chanin was found dead at a B&B this am, having died in his sleep.

That's sad news. I only spoke to him in January about meeting up at the Semaine.

I first met him in the late 60s and then I'd bump into him every few years. He was one of a small group of intrepid tourists from the early 70s including CCP Davies, Dave Culverwell and others I've forgotten. Not seen him for maybe 5 years now. Off on his final tour.
