Cyclist on and off since I was about 6 or earlier if riding a Triang tricycle counts. Used to ride time trials but now touring(cycle camping) and moseying around back lanes. My home made ebike is getting more use as age goes up and ejection fraction falls but the battery helps keep my legs turning.
Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself
Here to support cycling. Am a fairly regular ebike ~20mile round trip commuter and occasional weekend group cyclist.
My bike is a Decathlon 540e (ebike)
Have found an ebike to be transformative in terms of making hills painless, shortening my commute time and ensuring I continue to enjoy cycling (and continue to receive its many health benefits)

Had to Google "ejection fraction" there.Braceby wrote: 29 Mar 2024, 9:43pm Cyclist on and off since I was about 6 or earlier if riding a Triang tricycle counts. Morning all!
I have recently started road cycling in order to take part in a charity ride in June - I am currently signed up to the 50km but may push up to the 100km depending on how well my training goes.
I've found the cycling community, thus far, to be very welcoming & have already joined a local group who have been amazing for me as a new cyclist.
I've only picked up a cheap Triban from Decathlon to get myself started but I'm already eyeing up bikes for potential next rides!

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself
Morning all.
I'm a road cyclist - a brief period of mountain biking in my teenage years - but it gives me back ache - and I find riding on the hoods much more suited. Training up for the Ride London 90K this year (and hopefully OK as I've done 110K on a ride now, and the route out to Essex they show is much flatter).

Would like to avail myself of some of the excellent technical help you have here. Really first class!

Welcome to the forum -- what was your usual cycle for 45 years and how do you find road bikes?Zint wrote: 23 Aug 2024, 8:28am Hi,

Re: Introductions - tell us about yourself
As a late teenaged I had a straight handlebar Dawes tourer. Still the best bike I ever owned.
I then had a gap of about 12 years and the next bike I bought was an Emelle Cortina. It was great, but at the time I was living in a one bed flat in London. However I used it on and off for about a decade, including a very short commute to work.
Then there was another gap but the London Cycle hire scheme got me back onto a bike. After a bit I thought ‘this is daft’ so ended up with a Brompton. Still have that and occasionally use it, at the time it was my preferred mode of London Transport. I then bought an ATB which ate the miles along the Thames path with ease and would plough across Wimbledon Common or through the dirt track in Richmond park as if it wasn’t there.
I’ve only had my road bike for a month, but I’m really enjoying it. Even broken my ‘fair weather cyclist’ label by going out in the wind and rain the other day. I will upgrade my bike next spring.
