Nothing like getting back on a (relatively) lightweight steed after a few days lugging around camping gear.

Ha! I think you've had it longer than me, it must be your SOMA by now.SimonCelsa wrote: ↑20 Jul 2022, 7:26pmI've still got your SOMA!!
I hardly ever do the sort of riding it's best suited to any more, when I do, I miss it, it's the best bike of that type I've ever ridden.

The gravler, Arkose 2.
My Cotic Roadrat build.
Main wet weather commute, errand & towing ride.
Modified CF large in tow.
My heavy duty shopper and towing bike for heavy loads, now shares the work load hauling the CF.

Is that a motor assist I see there on the gravler.? How is it?
At the last count:- Peugeot 531 pro, Dawes Discovery Tandem, Dawes Kingpin X3, Raleigh 20 stowaway X2, 1965 Moulton deluxe, Falcon K2 MTB dropped bar tourer, Rudge Bi frame folder, Longstaff trike conversion on a Giant XTC 840

Yes a Revos mk1 friction drive from the fund raiser campaign.
A simple no fuss kit comprising only three component parts, the outrider friction drive, the battery and a led sensor picking up the teeth movement from the cassette.
Rides well adds 2.5kg to the original 10.3kg bike, though rides all up at approx.16kg with a second battery in the over wheel underslung bag.
Harking back to the first bike I first bought back in the late 70's which was a drop bar bike or as we use to call them racing bikes, I bought the Arkose on a whim as a trail/ off roader.

I have the road version of your Arkose the R2 -- iirc the D2 ( Dirt ) was the gravel version in 2019 --- don't think you can buy a better spec bike for that money. Comfortable too.hemo wrote: ↑11 Aug 2022, 10:24pm Yes a Revos mk1 friction drive from the fund raiser campaign.

I am here. Where are you?
Re: Pictures of your bike(s)
Is that a front hub motor on the Cotic Roadrat ? If so I'm doing something similar with a subway only using a rear hub motor kit which should be arriving in a few days.

Re: Pictures of your bike(s)
Yes well spotted, the hub on the Cotic is the tiny Bafang G370 with 14.6 twin stage gear reduction, the hub is 1.7kg so pretty light and rated for 30 n.m torque. A 250w rating and a 210rpm winding so ideal for my towing and mild hills, I bought it from Topbikekit in China. The hub gearing often allows me to ride unassisted as the mass of the hub and the gearing gives little treacle effect of the larger hubs.
The hub is no larger then the alfine 9 in the rear and I run the hub at 36v and 44v using a dual volt KT controller, the 44v battery is the silver water bottle. I used Lg Hg2 3000mah cells with cell holders and just about squeezed 24 cells in for a 12s 2p battery.
I bought the Cotic frame and forks on ebay and built the bike up, the forks I replaced with Surly DT's as the G370 has no option for a torque arm. The hub axle has a small double sided flat inboard and the fit it the dropout is a nice perfect snug one,

The Arkose 2 I saw online at evans end of 2018 and was ex demo stock for sale, the baby Blue colour sold it too me and the £800 asking price.

Great build -- that bit of extra help is like floating along on a magic carpet.hemo wrote: ↑12 Aug 2022, 11:45am Yes well spotted, the hub on the Cotic is the tiny Bafang G370 with 14.6 twin stage gear reduction, the hub is 1.7kg so pretty light and rated for 30 n.m torque. I'll post before and after pictures but mine is going to be a much simpler affair.
I bought ( don't really know how ) a nearly new hybrid bike with hydraulic brakes fitted with mudguards, rack, two new 2" tyres+tubes, swept back bars with new stem to suit and a kit of spares for the brakes for under £200.
The complete motor kit with battery is about £400 so I'll have an electric bike the spec I want for £600! That's the theory, kit arriving soon so let's see.

Re: Pictures of your bike(s)
Can't beat that -- would have loved the baby blue colour but had to settle for boring black -- 105 groupset, hydraulic brakes, frame routed cables, 12mm through axles carbon forks, plenty of fixings for racks etc, about 10kg -- all for ( in my case R2 ) a grand brand new.
BTW if your looking for mudguards for the Ark 2 the lifeline ones from chain reaction are cheap, good and easy to fit.

Re: Pictures of your bike(s)
The Arkose is my fair weather bike as I have the other two for rain.
