Inner tubes - nowt to do with bikes though

I post this just as an example of how certain vulnerable groups may be targetted by the apparently unscrupulous
My boat trailer has a pneumatic jockey wheel - just that bit wider than a solid wheel to help when moving it around on sand etc. It takes a small, 3 x 4.00 innertube - but the valve stem had pulled away on mine so I needed a replacement. Happening to notice that the wheels on some of these mobility scooters that have spread like a rash of late (and I dare say there are some/many that are hardly 'needed' by their pilots) are the same size, I called into one of the multitude shops now selling the things. Yes, they could supply an innertube - for £9 I can get a complete wheel for £8.99 from a trailer supplies place
I wonder how much they would have charged/ripped me off for fitting it

Gah! Next time you need one, ask them to fit it - but go on a wet and windy day, 'accidentally' leave the boat on the trailer, attached to the car, parked over a puddle, sails up, with full crew on board

At work (research lab), we use bog standard 'common-or-garden' skimmed milk powder for certain protein blotting procedures, and it comes from our chemical supplier at the royal cost of £12 per tub At a lab I worked in previously, they used to send someone out to Tesco to buy some off the shelf for a few quid!

Ask about for some Michelin wheelbarrow tubes, think they are available in the size you need.

We have a wheelbarrow with a leaky tyre that I have to pump up every time we need it.

It's a tubeless tyre really - the tyre/rim wasn't making good contact, so a tube was a good idea, and although I'm a dab hand at fitting new tubes, I kept pinching it! I pulled it out time and time again, it now has about six patches on it and still leaks. Consequentially, I get the track pump out when we need the barrow!

I got the tube cheap from a mate and I don't want to go back and get another!

James Dyson has had some good ideas over the years - this one, like most, didn't seem to catch on!

Ahh, the ball barrow. far from not catching on, it did! Everyone had one in the 70s It was very cool

I tried to buy one a couple of years ago, but Dyson sold the rights to Hozelock, who are just sitting on the rights and not making the barrow

I remember seeing a video clip on TV years ago showing people gravity racing go kart type things with ballbarrow wheels. Brilliant; worked on rough or soft ground. Talking about boat trailers, didn't there used to be a launching trolley using these wheels?
