Shimano 105 Friction Shifters, assembly instructions

Post by wrangler_rover »

Can anybody please help me.
I have just bought a pair of Shimano 105 Friction Shifters to fit on a dawes frame with lugs.
The shifters came as a bag of bits with no instructions.
There seem to be several ways of assembling them and knowing my luck, I will choose the wrong way.
Can anybody please help with assembly instructions, I've done a google search without much success.

I have some instructions. These are for 7 speed 105s but I have some 8sp on a bike so if you are still having problems I can have a look how they are fitted.

A man can't have everything.

Thank you for that, I look forward to seeing them.
Each lever consists of:
Frame lug (don't need as lugs already on frame)
Lever
Cable length
Cable end ferrule
Circular profiled part to go onto frame
Threaded not to tighten up
Plastic part looks like it goes into centre of lever
Thin plastic spacer
Small copper washer
Thin metal locking washer
Locking washer with rectangular hole

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, my shifters had a lot more bits than described in the picture or the webpage that was linked.
I phoned the vendor (e-bay shop) this morning and he talked me through step by step assembly.
