Lidl have cycling kit!
Not sure where to put this, so Mods - feel free to move.
Lidl have cycling kit back in their stores. I bought a new jersey for about £6, a pair of gloves for £3, a track pump for about £5 (we'll see how long that lasts!) and some lights for my wife for £7 or thereabouts.
They do also have "cycling socks" (wth!) for about £2 and helmets for £8 (kids lids) or £9 (big lids). I didn't buy a helmet because I couldn't get it to fit right (although I didn't exactly spend too long looking as I was on my way into work).
Get in now before it all goes. The guy behind me in the queue had 4!! cycling jerseys!
EDIT: No shoes this time.

I like the umbrellas they have on the cycling kit page, particularly the Mona Lisa one, maybe they're meant to me deployed like a drogue parachute on fast descents.
Re: Lidl have cycling kit!
My track pump is still running strong after several months.
A shortcut has to be a challenge, otherwise it would just be the way. No situation is so dire that panic cannot make it worse.

By this time tomorrow, they'll probably all be on eBay for £20 each. This is what usually happens with stuff from Lidl

Thanks for this news. I just legged it down on lullunclunch break and bought leggings, mits, sleeveless base layer, and a giant saddle for my gf.
Tempted to buy another base layer.... so cheap!

I can see how that could work.. but you'd need to extend the handle a bit and configure it with a better spring release so it only opens above a certain speed...

Nutsey, what are you trying to say? I'd be careful to make sure she doesn't read this!

Nah I just mean her bones are dead far apart. She is an excellent specimen of femininity
I just tried on my new gear, and have a question that may seem silly - do you wear these cycling leggings with underwear, or with nothing underneath?

I wear cycling shorts under mine as mine has no padding.

I think TwoPlus was referring to my post on umbrellas doubling for drogue 'chutes.

If they've got the padding in them they're designed to be wearable without underwear, but it's not compulsory. I bought some winter leggings from Aldi a couple of years ago and jokes were made on this forum that they made people look like they had a canoe in their leggings! I ended up carefully unpicking the pad and wearing a pair of cycling underpants beneath them, and I've been as happy as Larry with them since. I haven't seen the Lidl ones yet so I don't know what the padding is like. The best thing to do Nutsey is just to try different combinations and see which is most comfortable for your riding, but what ever you do it won't be wrong.

Just got the "Trekking" saddle for my hack bike. Very very comfy seat, for a tenner. Also grabbed one of the track pumps, on the basis that for a fiver it's a handy think to have laying around spare. It works and the gauge is within 5psi of accurate at my usual 60psi.

It should be alright at 60 psi but at "road bike pressures" the tube on mine (bought last year) ballooned out. I have wrapped it with duct tape to reinforce it! Also after 2 days mine developed a crack in the plastic base which leaked air, so I encapsulated the base in GRP reinforced epoxy, then screwed it to a piece of wood, so it doesn't fall over. So all in all a waste of time and money. I bought a Joe Blow Sport the next weekend, which is fantastic

Its got a pad thing inside, but its so thin it may as well not exist. Maybe they're there for strengthening the crotch more than padding? I have one pair of cycle shorts but these also have the silly pad.
The main reason I ask is that my special place shows when I wear no underwear, and its often cold when I cycle...
