bio rings

my old galaxy has bio rings........why are they not round..........................

When they wear out you can fit ordinary round ones.
You just need to match the BCD. (Probably 110 / 74?)

It was to do with trying to smooth out the power in the pedalling strokes. I find that they don't make a huge difference, but they do make it slightly easier to get moving from a standing start. I currently use them, although when the supply for bio-pace runs out, I will still have plenty of round rings to use.
Sheldon reckons that they suit touring cyclists, and since I am a touring cyclist, I'll use them whilst I can get them.
