Boardman Hybrid Comp

Post by g1enn »

Hi
Can someone tell me if it is possible to fit 700x23 tyres to the standard wheels of the Hybrid Comp.. I have asked Halfords staff in two different stores. One guy said no way the other said yes no problem.. apologies if this as already been covered.

I've just had a look and theres no spec given which rims are fitted so without that info its hard to tell if they would suit.
May I ask why you'd want fit 23mm tyres?

Hi,

According to the Q&A on this page, near the bottom of P1:
http://answers.halfords.com/answers/402 ... htm?page=2
the answer is yes.

Q: Would I be able to use Specialized Roubaix Armadillo Elite Tyre 700 x 23 on this bike?
A: Yes it would be possible. It would result in a very slim tyre giving excellent road speed but a harder ride and make the bike more vulnerable to punctures as would any thinner road tyre

Good luck!

Hi reohn2
No real reason, I have a friend who has some continental 23mm tyres and he as offered them me for free. So I thought I would give them a try. They can only make the bike faster. I will post my verdict in a week or two if your interested.

Yep I'd be interested, though I think they'll give a harsher ride if you're running 28s at the moment without any real gains,if you're running the Detonators at the right pressures they'd be quite quick I'd have thought.
I disagree that narrower tyres mean more punctures, as in the answer in the Halfords link, though.

HI, i've got the boardman comp hybrid & have michelin pro3 700x25s & have no issues. I certainly don't feel like i'm on the border & think shaving another 2mm off would be ok.

Hope all is ok. :)

Hi reohn2
Well i have completed about 100 mile on the 23s and i must say there is a huge difference. Ok you where right about being a little harsher but the gains far outway the harshness. Easier pedalling and faster. I must say a worthwhile upgrade.
