convert non-folder to folding
Hi, ages ago I saw stuff on converting a non-folding bike to folding. can't find this advice/service anymore. did it just die out does anyone know? thinking of converting my 11.5Kg 1970s racer to folding (which is still a lot lighter than most folders now!) thanks.
as I'm a bit green around here.

Don't know how much you want to convert, but don't St John Street cycles do connectors that split frame tubing?

S+S couplings.
Have a read at this:

"1970s racer" is probably steel, so you should be ok. Sounds like a wonderful project!
It seems that alu frames can't be retro-fitted.

That's somebody who will do it for £500 or "an amazing" £625 painted up.
I see the "amazing" is used without a hint of irony.
(If you have to explain what you are doing to swmbo or similar, say you are converting your folding money.)

The brake and gear cables would need reorganising, either with outers that straddle the joint, or a connector.
