Re: Framesaver for steel frames
Who are the Beatles??
Jobst Brandt is a grumpy famous American cyclist who's an engineer by profession and is one of the great no-nonsense experts about cycling and and bicycle engineering on the web. He wrote a book years ago, which I have and have read, called the Bicycle Wheel, all about wheel building and what works and why.
If you read his writings down the years on all manner of cycling matters, you will come across extreme sarcasm and fantastic information.
Mind you, he made a mistake once. He asserted that a large tube folded into a smaller tyre (700c into 26") would not wear a hole in itself, but I've had to do it three times, and it always does after about 50 miles or so. Even the great err!

I read from some expert - I don't think is was Brandt - someone else - that if you put a business cards inside your tyres and ride, you'll find that they shred thus showing that tyres deform as you ride.
They may well deform, but when I tried the experiment, the cards were fine!

so from the 2 above examples - he would be one who doesn't know what he is talking about ?
Re: Framesaver for steel frames
Yes!
The thing is with experts, sometimes they get it wrong.
I heard a quote the other day, and hopefully I can get it right:
Never tell ALL you know, because if you do tell all you know, you'll end up telling things you don't know!
