My daughter used to go to uni at the top of headington hill, there are longer but not so steep routes along Morrel Avenue and Gypsy Lane or try the park and go at you own speed hope this helps and Good luck

re: Headington Hill, just take care on the descent. Also, at the bottom at the second set of lights, if you are going straight ahead (i.e. heading towards Magdalen Bridge/city centre), then be very aware of traffic turning left to Morrell Ave. If you are in the bike lane traffic may overtake and turn left straight into you. My missus had her elbow fractured there avoiding the car (no contact) and driver drove away.
Best to ignore the bike lane when approaching and crossing that intersection and take primary position in the centre of the lane.
