Just another of the hazards to beset you when you opt to sample the 'farcilities'! I think the only solution is a sort of
caveat emptor - i.e.
expect the worst when you're moving from the road onto a cycle path or vice versa, and angle your transition accordingly. At a sufficiently oblique angle, you won't have problems. Of course this means a drop in speed, but then again, cycle paths are built for slowth, not for speed...

I'm also bemused by the remark about 'preventing water ingress'. Where I live, when there's water on the roads, it's usually
fallen in a vertical direction from grey and white fluffy things up over one's head. I don't see how kerbs make any difference. Anyone know any different?
