I recently came across a website (I think the link was posted somewhere on the CTC forums) that used OS maps, as opposed to Google maps, for route planning. I found it really useful for measuring off-road distances accurately.
I thought I had bookmarked the site but now can't find it anywhere. Can anyone supply a link to something fitting the bill please?

Probably http://www.bikehike.co.uk/.
But you can't save routes on that site any longer - I think the OS stopped that facility.
For a small charge, there's
http://www.trailzilla.com/
http://www.grough.co.uk/route/
This one is good but no OS mapping, but there is the option of Open Cycle Map (OSM)
