Thanks for the replies. I think I'm getting somewhere.

The symbol that looks like a fork is the 'earth' or 'ground'.

The wire with a white strip is positive.

Now I just need to know if earth & ground = negative or positive??

I use the built in wire to connect to the front hub. The wire has spade connectors to attach to the front light though. Is this the same with you Andy B?

My built-in wire comes from inside the light unit (where it is soldered in place) and connects to the hub with spade connectors (I've not noticed any effect from which way the wires connect at the hub end). On one of my lights I couldn't get any light using the built-in wire, so I just used a cable from the hub to the external connectors on the light - this worked, but the switch was by-passed and the light was effectively always on. Which model light is yours?

Can't work it out at all.

I've swapped the wires where it connects to the hub and I've swapped the wires where they connect to the light.

Either, the light doesn't work at all or it works all the time (regardless of what I have it switched to (on, off or senso)).

Worried I have bought a 'dud'

:(

I have emailed B&M and Bike 24 (where I bought it from).

However, DEVELOPMENTS!:

The front light works correctly when I unplug the wires connecting the front light to the back light (B&M D' Toplight Plus).

However, when the back light is 'plugged in', the lights are either constantly on or constantly off.
