Shimano XTR Freehub-servicing

Post by ricardolamos »

I have just acquired a used XTR M900 freehub and would welcome advice on servicing/lubrication.

The bearings on the hub look pretty straightforward cups/cones however I have never serviced a freehub body before and could do with advice on how to tell how worn it is and how to remove/clean and lubricate.

thanks

I would have thought any Lithium based grease really. It's not as if it's a fast-turning application.

I've found other greases a little thin(viscosity)and they leak through the seals but the Shimano stuff is a bit stickier.
