I do not agree with the hi-viz crackdown, although I wear it it is my choice and is not a legal requirement.

That's me buggered then. I got tugged in a random stop last year and when he entered my details on his computer he said "ah, you're known to us then..."

Known for what I've no idea, neither could he tell me. I felt personally affronted (and still do when I think back).
The only thing I can think of a speeding offence from about 15 years ago - although I thought they didn't keep records of such things...

Guess that means I can expect grief from Mr Plod from now on... :?

Get your grief in first.

Make a formal request under the Data Protection Act, in writing, to see what information they have on you. Under the Data Protection Act you have a right to see what information is held about you by public bodies, and the right to have that information corrected / deleted if it isn't correct.

They have to respond to your request within (I think) 20 days and there may be a fee to pay, but for peace of mind that's the way to go.
